Please stay alert, listen for public address announcements, and be aware of yoursurroundings throughout the event. As always, the safety of participants, volunteers, and spectators remains our top priority.

Davenport has only had nine measurable rainfalls (0.1″ or greater) on Bix 7 race days since the start in 1975. The last time there was measurable rain on race day was July 24, 2010, with 1.10″.

Safety is our biggest concern in relation to the lightning. Once the race starts, we expect to treat less heat-related issues and more injuries related to slips and falls due to the wet conditions.

Quad-City Times Bix 7 race officials said they have been closely monitoring the weather for Saturday morning with current predictions calling for inclement weather in the Davenport area.

The situation is still being assessed, race officials said. Updates will be given on social media pages, and right here on KWQC TV6.

“We’re committed to making race morning both safe and exciting and we appreciate your flexibility and understanding as we monitor conditions,” officials said. “Thank you for being part of the Bix 7!”

KWQC TV6 is the exclusive live-broadcast host of the Bix 7 race.

Pre-race coverage is set to start at 8:30 a.m. on KWQC TV6 and KWQC live stream. The race is set to begin at 9 a.m.
