Inmate found unresponsive in Clinton County Jail cell dies

CLINTON, Iowa (KWQC) - An inmate is dead after being found unresponsive in the Clinton County Jail Sunday, according to the Clinton County Sheriff’s Office.

The man died on Tuesday after being taken to the University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics, deputies said.

Officials said the man was found alone in his cell in what appeared to be an attempted suicide.

The man’s name is being kept private until his family is notified, officials said.

The incident is being investigated.
