Deputies: Man arrested after traffic stop leads to chase, standoff
LONG GROVE, Iowa (KWQC) - A man was arrested after Clinton County sheriff’s deputies said a traffic stop led to a chase and standoff Sunday evening.
Deputies were told 46-year-old Waylon J. Koehler had a warrant for his arrest and a Jeep Cherokee registered to him was in the area of 11th Street and Highway 61, according to a media release.
Deputies found the Jeep, driven by Koehler, in the 2600 block of 285th Avenue in Dewitt, Iowa, and tried to stop it. Officials said Koehler did not stop, and a chase began.
The chase continued into Scott County where officials said Koehler lost control near the 20500 block of 310th Street.

Koehler stayed inside the Jeep. Deputies said he began harming himself with a knife.
The Bettendorf Police Department responded with an armored vehicle, and officials said officers and deputies briefly negotiated with Koehler.
Koehler got out of the Jeep and surrendered. Officials said he was treated at the scene for minor injuries.
Koehler was then taken to the Clinton County Jail and is charged with the original warrant of assault causing bodily injury and eluding.
