2 Moline teachers named Golden Apple Award finalists

MOLINE, Ill. (KWQC) - Two teachers at Franklin Elementary School in Moline have been named finalists for the Golden Apple Award for Excellence in Teaching, according to a news release.

Kelly Beem and LuAnn Lindauer are among 30 finalists selected from 600 nominations.

Organizers said the Golden Apple Award aims to elevate the teaching profession by honoring the best of the best Illinois teachers and school leaders.

Kelly Beem

Beem teaches 4th grade at Franklin Elementary. Organizers said her students consistently rank in the top 5 percent on achievement tests. She also creates immersive experiences to incorporate into daily lessons.

LuAnn Lindauer

Lindauer has taught 5th grade at Franklin Elementary for 23 years. Organizers said she designed a holiday budgeting project that brought math into a real-world context.
