PARMA, Ohio. (WOIO/Gray News) - A children’s book in an Ohio library is being reviewed after a mother says it contains inappropriate sexual imagery.

Hilary Jackson, chair of the Cuyahoga County chapter of Moms for Liberty and a mother of two, said she and other parents found the book in the children’s section of the Parma-Powers branch of the Cuyahoga County Public Library.

The book titled “Was I in Mama’s Stomach, Too?” is labeled for ages 3-6.

It’s described as a guide for conversations with children about how babies are made.

Jackson said she has no objection to portions of the book covering anatomy and the stages of fetal development. However, the section on sexual attraction goes further, with images depicting body parts and adult characters having sex.

“I called the Parma-Powers branch and I asked them why a book of this nature with this type of imagery was in their children’s section,” Jackson said.

Jackson said she does not want the book banned. Rather, she wants it moved to a different section of the library so children cannot access it so easily.

“It’s hiding in plain sight. It’s hiding pornography,” Jackson said.

The Cuyahoga County Public Library provided the following statement about the book:

Jackson said a librarian at the Parma-Powers branch directed her to fill out a form requesting that the book be considered for relocation.

19 News asked how long the review process would take and was told all copies of the book were currently checked out.

Once a copy is returned, the process could take up to two weeks.
