21-month-old dies after being hit by Amtrak train

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WGGB/WSHM/Gray News) - A 21-month-old girl has died after being hit by a train in Massachusetts.

Gloria Elikana, the youngest of five children, died on June 10. The toddler was hit by an Amtrak train in Springfield just after 6 p.m.

She was rushed to Baystate Medical Center, but died from her injuries.

The Springfield Detective Bureau is looking into how the child was able to get onto the tracks.

A GoFundMe was created to help the family with her funeral expenses.
