Family Resources honors lives lost on National Day of Remembrance for Homicide Victims

DAVENPORT, Iowa (KWQC) - Family Resources gathered today for the National Day of Remembrance for Homicide Victims.

Families and others affected by homicide got together to honor those lost and reflect on the lasting impact violent loss has on a community.

Guest speakers, families and survivors shared memories, tributes and reflected on the loss of their loved ones.

Event organizers say events like this are important for those who have lost someone to homicide.

Tee Leshoure, director of community violence intervention, said, “What better way than providing a space, a day of commemoration, providing that advocacy and support.”

This is the fifth year of the Day of Remembrance. It is open to the public and free to attend.
