Man charged after damaging Davenport City Hall door, police say

DAVENPORT, Iowa (KWQC) - A man has been charged after damaging doors at Davenport City Hall and a business and damaging three vehicles police said.

Damien Smith, 42, is charged with:

  • Felony criminal mischief in the second-degree
  • Two counts of third-degree criminal mischief

Police said Smith kicked a glass door at city hall, damaging it around 4:30 a.m. on Oct. 23, according to court documents. Around ten minutes later, police said he kicked a glass front door of a business, damaging the glass.

The damage to the doors was estimated to cost over $750 each, police said.

Around 6:30 a.m., police said Smith damaged three vehicles in the Scott County Courthouse parking lot by kicking them. The dents in the vehicles are estimated to cost over $1,500 police said.

Smith is in the Scott County Jail on several bonds, according to the jail’s website. He’s also facing charges of indecent exposure and disorderedly conduct from incidents in September, according to court documents.
