DAVENPORT, Iowa (KWQC) — More Deere layoffs are coming to the Quad Cities.

Deere confirmed about 287 will lose jobs at Harvester Works in East Moline, 80 at Davenport Works and seven in Moline Seeding.

Employees were being alerted on Wednesday.

The layoffs are the latest in a global workforce reduction happening at Deere.

Economists say it’s because demand for tractors is down.

Sales have declined 20%, according to the company. And Deere’s stock price is down 16% since last year.

This year Deere has laid off more than 900 workers in the Quad Cities.

  • 298 at Headquarters in Moline

Former President Donald Trump recently threatened to place a 200% tariff on the company.

Deere issued a statement this afternoon emphasizing that jobs eliminated Wednesday in the Quad-Cities are not moving overseas.
