DAVENPORT, Iowa (KWQC) - A group of protesters gathered in downtown Davenport for a “Hands Off” protest Saturday.

The protest began around 11 a.m. at MLK Park and Interpretive Center. It appeared to have ended by 1:15 p.m.

At the protest, KWQC could see thousands of protesters with signs from the bottom to the top of the Brady Street hill. Some cars honked their horns in support of the protest as the drove up the hill.

KWQC spoke to one of the many protesters including Chris Dunn of Rock Island talked about why he attended.

“We needed reform before this administration to bring more services to people,” Dunn said. “Now we need even more.”

KWQC has reached out to Rep. Miller-Meeks for a statement but has not yet heard back.

According to AP, more than 1200 “Hands Off!” demonstrations were planned by more than 150 groups including civil rights organizations, labor unions, LBGTQ+ advocates, veterans and elections activists.
