Traffic alert: Lane changes on Dubuque bridge

DUBUQUE, Iowa (KWQC) - Drivers crossing the Julien Dubuque Bridge between Iowa and Illinois should prepare for updated lane closures.

The eastbound lane of the U.S. Highway 20 bridge will be closed most of the day for construction, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation. However, crews will open the eastbound lane to traffic on weekdays from 3 to 6 p.m.

The lane will close again each night at 6 p.m. and is expected to stay closed through the weekends.

Drivers can check the state’s 511 system for daily weather updates, and transportation officials remind motorists that traffic fines are doubled in work zones.
